About Christina

Christina Downing, D.O., M.P.H., is originally from Washington, DC. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science. From Virginia she moved to Philadelphia where she received her master’s in public health from Thomas Jefferson University and her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Downing later moved to Colton and completed her intern year and psychiatry residency at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC). After completing her residency, she began a fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles – Kern Medical Center’s child and adolescent psychiatry program. She has presented original research on allergies to nitrile gloves, for which she won the Psychiatric Education and Research Award in 2020.

As an attending psychiatrist at ARMC, Dr. Downing enjoys working with students from the California University of Science and Medicine, the medical school adjacent to ARMC. Clinically, she has a focus on recovery-oriented care and finds it important to include patients in the treatment-planning process whenever possible. Dr. Downing is American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) board certified in psychiatry and is licensed by both the Osteopathic Medical Board of California and Pennsylvania’s State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Downing can be found playing board games and visiting the beach in the middle of winter.
