GME Application Information
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants must meet all
County of San Bernardino employee requirements, including an on-site pre-employment appointment approximately 60-90 days
of proposed start date.
Additionally, an applicant must meet one of the following qualifications
to be eligible for appointment to an ACGME accredited program:
Graduation from a medical school in the United States, accredited by the
Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or graduation from a college
of osteopathic medicine in the United states, accredited by the American
Osteopathic Association Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation
(AOACOCA) or graduation from medical school outside the United States
and meeting one of the following additional qualifications: Holding a
currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign
Medical Graduates (ECFMG) prior to appointment or holding a full and unrestricted
license to practice medicine in the United States licensing jurisdiction
in California.
An applicant invited to interview for a position is informed in writing
or by electronic means of the terms, conditions, and benefits of appointment
to the ACGME accredited program either in effect at the time of interview.
To be eligible for appointment to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center sponsored
ACGME accredited program.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center participates in: National Residency Matching
Program (NRMP)
Required Documentation
Once a resident or fellow is selected or matched with a position at ARMC,
they will work with their training program to submit the required documentation
needed to finalize their appointment at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Appointment to an ARMC graduate medical education program is contingent
upon verification of the following documentation:
General Documents
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
- Three current Letters of Recommendation
- Previous ACGME Training Certificate(s) (if applicable).
Exam Scores
- USMLE Step 1 & 2 or COMLEX Level 1 & 2
- USMLA Step 3 or COMLEX Level 3 (if applicable)
Licensing & Regulatory Requirements

Proof of licensing status (as required) per Senate (SB) 798 (Hill, Chapter 775):
- Postgraduate Training License (PTL) is required for all residents participating
in an ACGME-accredited postgraduate training program in California in
order to practice medicine as part of their training program.
- A PTL must be obtained within 180 days after enrollment in the program
and does not require renewal.
- All applicants (domestic and international) must successfully complete
36 months of postgraduate training accredited by ACGME, Royal College
of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or College of Family Physicians
of Canada.
- An applicant must complete 24 consecutive months of training in the same
program to be eligible for a physician’s and surgeon’s license.
- International Medical Graduates must have a current ECFMG certificate.
USMLE scores are required.
- Non-US Citizens must provide proof of permanent resident status.
- Visa sponsorship is not offered
- Programs with mandatory VA rotations require proof of Selective Service
Registration or proof of exempt status for individuals designated as male
on their birth certificates.
- Proof of current ACLS, BLS, or PALS certification (as required by specialty).
Certification must be AHA-issued.
- Proof of valid DEA card (if required).
- Proof of CURES registration (if required).
- Verification of Employee Health Screening.
- Verification of Background Check.
- Compliance with licensing requirements as established by the Medical Board
of California and the Osteopathic Medical Board of California prior to
appointment and training start date.
Pre-Employment Screening Appointment (On-site)
All selected or matched applicants must attend an in-person pre-employment
screening appointment, which will include:
- Background check, including fingerprinting
- Completion of the I-9 Employment Eligibility Form with supporting documentation
- Health screening (physical exam)
- Drug screening
Scheduling:
- In-person appointments will be scheduled by the program coordinator.

Pre-employment appointments for most applicants will occur in
April and early May.
- Exact dates will be provided after the Main Match by the program coordinator.
Important Note:
- If a matched candidate is unable to complete the pre-employment screening
during the timeframe provided, there may be a delay in the start date,
which could result in loss of pay, altered training dates, or both.
Orientation
All new hires must attend on-site in person paid orientation.
Selected or Matched Candidates

ARMC conducts an
in-person New Resident Orientation begins approximately on the
second Monday in June.
- Attendance is mandatory .

Orientation is a
paid event.
- Exact dates for orientation are provided by the program coordinator.
- Main Match candidates who are currently in another program should coordinate
with both their current program and their ARMC program coordinator to
ensure attendance at the required orientation dates.
Advanced Match and Fellowship Candidates
- Sessions are held in early July.
- Attendance is mandatory .

Residents and fellows must complete all assigned ARMC Learning training
modules and comply with ARMC Employee Health requirements annually to
engage in patient care.
