Judi Anne B. Ramiscal, MD

About Dr. Ramiscal

Introducing Judi Anne B. Ramiscal, M.D., a general surgical oncologist with particular interest in breast, skin/soft tissue, and endocrine malignancies.

Dr. Ramiscal’s interest in cancer started as an undergraduate researcher at the Koch Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), leading to an initial industry career in translational oncology. She then switched gears and obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, completed a general surgery residency at the University of Hawaii and now comes to us after finishing a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica (now known as the St. John’s Cancer Institute).

She has written several book chapters in critical care and biliary disease and published multiple peer reviewed publications in cancer drug development and pharmacology. She has given several podium presentations at national surgical meetings based on her research topics ranging from minimally invasive techniques for GI neoplasms to prognostic factors in melanoma based on nodal characteristics.

In addition to training across the breadth of complex general surgical oncology, Dr. Ramiscal has an especially robust training in the latest breast surgery techniques, such as oncoplastic breast conserving surgery, including therapeutic reductions and mastopexy and ultrasound-guided partial mastectomies. She is hopeful to use these techniques to improve the experience of cancer patients and along with ARMC’s surgical oncologist and hepatopancreatobiliary surgeon, Dr. Amir A. Rahnemai Azar, build a more comprehensive and efficient cancer care program overall here at ARMC. As a native of Southern California with many family members in the area, she is looking forward to bringing her expertise back home and serving and teaching the communities that raised her.
