Emergency Medicine and Trauma

Why Choose Us for Emergency Care?

You can count on the Emergency Department at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center to provide the highest level of emergency care around-the-clock.

Board-Certified PhysiciansEmergency Care

As a teaching hospital, our board-certified emergency physicians provide clinical and didactic education to medical students, physician assistant students, and nursing students. Neurosurgeons, surgeons, neonatologists and other specialists are also on-site 24/7 to provide specialized care when needed.

Level I Trauma Center

We are recognized as a leader in providing the highest level of care for critically ill and injured patients. ARMC’s Level I Trauma Center is verified by the American College of Surgeons, the gold standard for trauma excellence. Trauma specialists handle approximately 2,500 traumas each year. They consult with orthopedic, neurosurgical/spinal and perinatal specialists when caring for trauma patients. Specially-trained trauma nurses (on staff 24/7) round out our trauma team.

Experience You Can Trust

We treat more than 100,000 adults and children in our Emergency Department each year.

Shorter Wait Times

With a door-to-doctor wait time averaging less than 24 minutes, ARMC’s fast track “pod concept” is modeled by other ERs in the state. We offer a number of services not typically found in emergency departments, such as:

  • Stroke intake program (click here to go to our Stroke Program page)
  • Burn care services (the only facility offering these services in a four-county radius)
  • Licensed social workers
  • Behavioral health specialists and crisis intervention counselors
  • Multilingual staff

Award-Winning Care

Our emergency department staff is recognized statewide and nationally for excellence in ER care delivery. Most recently, Rodney Borger M.D., chairman of ARMC’s Emergency Department, received the 2015 Emergency Department Director of the Year Award for his exemplary collaborative relationships with nursing and ancillary departments to implement and improve operational and clinical standards.

Serving Our Community

The goal of the Emergency Services team at ARMC is to restore the health of those who come to us for care. We strive to provide efficient, quality health care. We pledge to treat our patients with dignity and compassion.

We are an integral part of our community, and providing resources and advice to help keep individuals and their families safe and healthy is a cornerstone of the care we provide.

Avoid a trip to the ER by accessing the outreach programs we provide, including:

  • Car Seat Safety

Car accidents are among the leading causes of death in children. That’s why car safety seats are so important and are mandated by law. California law requires children to be properly restrained in a child safety seat or booster seat until age 8. Know the laws in your area and keep your child out of the ER by using proper car restraints every time he or she gets in a motor vehicle. Our staff provides FREE car seat assessments. Call 909-580-1376 to schedule an appointment. Click here to learn more.

  • Reflections

The Reflections program is a multi-faceted, community-based non-profit which provides at-risk minors a glimpse into true life and death situations as a catalyst to promote self-correction. Education sessions provide guidance, mentoring and life skills emphasizing making better life choices. The program also offers tours of the hospital’s emergency department, trauma, ICU as well as the morgue with emphasis on the consequences of poor behavior choices. An impressive 82 percent of those completing the program don’t re-enter the juvenile detention system.

  • Screenings and brief intervention

Inpatients from accidents or injuries resulting from >.08 blood alcohol levels receive intervention therapy from an injury prevention specialist. The focus is on skill building resources to assist the first offender from subsequent offenses involving alcohol use.

  • Elderly Fall Prevention

Patients with injuries resulting from trips and falls who are over age 65 receive evaluation on fall prevention and in-home risk assessment as needed.
