ARMC Trauma Nurse Receives Molina Health Care’s Community Champion Award

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Christy Stewart, RN recently received the 2020 Molina Healthcare Community Champion Award. The awards program was created in 2006 to honor and bring together people whose leadership, volunteerism, and public advocacy embody the spirit of service and community.

Stewart previously worked in ARMC’s Trauma Department. She volunteers to help curb the flow of human trafficking by working with at-risk adolescents on the streets. She has been instrumental in assisting underage girls in San Bernardino, who were coerced into prostitution, to be removed from their situation and to receive help. Her experience with the human trafficking task force gave her the ability to enable ARMC staff to recognize key indicators of human trafficking for patients at the medical center.

A panel of judges selected Stewart based on her overall community contributions and involvement, her achievements for serving those in need, and the positive results she has delivered for her community. Stewart received the award with a $5,000 grant to be given to her charity of choice, which she designated to The Open Door. The organization provides case management and support to victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
