Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) has received three American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines^® achievement awards for demonstrating a commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, helping save lives, support recovery and reduce hospital readmissions.

Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 4 causes of death in the United States, respectively, according to the American Heart Association’s 2026 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Report. Studies show patients can experience better outcomes when care teams consistently follow evidence-based treatment guidelines.

Get With The Guidelines puts the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest science-backed guidelines. As a participant in the Get With The Guidelines programs, ARMC qualified for the awards by demonstrating a sustained commitment to improving the quality of cardiovascular care.

This year, ARMC earned received these achievement awards:

Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

ARMC earned this recognition for its commitment to ensuring people experiencing stroke receive timely, appropriate treatment based on nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately helping to save lives and reduce disability. Get With The Guidelines - Stroke is an in-hospital program designed to improve stroke care through consistent adherence to these guidelines, which can minimize long-term effects of stroke and help prevent death. Early detection and rapid treatment of stroke are critical to improving survival, minimizing disability and supporting faster recovery.

To qualify for the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with thrombolytic therapy.

ARMC also received the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award. Target: Type 2 Diabetes aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.

Get With The Guidelines®-Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Referring Silver with Target: Type 2 Diabetes

ARMC earned this recognition for its commitment to providing rapid, research-based care to people experiencing a specific type of heart attack known as an ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), considered more severe and life-threatening than other types of heart attacks. Recognition as a STEMI Referring Center highlights hospitals of every size on the front lines of care that do not have an around-the-clock cardiac catheterization lab available but coordinate closely with emergency medical services to ensure patients receive guideline-directed STEMI and NSTEMI care.

Get With The Guidelines®-Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI Silver with Target: Type 2 Diabetes’

ARMC earned this recognition for its commitment to offering rapid, research-based care to people experiencing a specific type of heart attack known as a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Each year, more than 1.2 million people in the U.S. are hospitalized with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), according to the American Heart Association’s 2026 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Report. About 70% of ACS cases are classified as NSTEMI, caused by a partial blockage in a coronary artery. Each year, hospitals earn NSTEMI recognition by demonstrating a sustained commitment to treating patients according to the most current, evidence-based guidelines for NSTEMI care, as outlined by the American Heart Association.
